Sunray Family Counselling led by Kiran Dhingra Stenstrom, MSW RCSW is a safe, supportive space where children, teen girls, parents and families can get the help they need to move from overwhelm and worry toward confidence, connection and emotional well-being. I provide intake assessment, play therapy, counselling for teen girls, parent consultation and family therapy. My goal is meet each individual's unique needs, foster emotional growth, empower parents, and nurture a foundation of lifelong family bonds. I offer in person and virtual services.

The name Kiran originates from the Sanskrit language and has the meaning ‘ray of light’. This was the inspiration for the name of my practice. I am passionate about bringing forth the light in every child, teen or parent that I meet to inspire feelings of empowerment, resiliency and connectedness.

Kiran has her Master of Social Work and is a Registered Clinical Social Worker in BC with 25 years of experience.

Her clinical treatment approach draws from additional education in:

-Certificate in Expressive Play Therapy -Certificate in Child and Youth Mental Health -Certificate in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) -Adolescent Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (A-DBT); -Emotion-Focused Family Therapy (EFFT) -Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT) -Ross Greene Collaborative Problem Solving

Kiran has worked in child welfare, domestic violence, Indigenous health, teen healthy relationships and child and youth mental health. She currently works in infant mental health and attachment at the Queen Alexandra Centre for Children and Youth in Victoria, BC.

Kiran is an experienced parent to two teenaged children and knows firsthand the joys and pains of family life. In her downtime, she enjoys running, taking her dogs for beach walks and practicing meditation and yoga.
